MARINE AGGREGATE EXTRACTION

Over 20 million tonnes of marine sand and gravel is extracted from over 65 licensed areas around the coast of England and Wales each year.

Around 17 per cent of the sand and gravel used in England and Wales is now supplied by the marine aggregates industry. It also makes a healthy contribution to our balance of payments through exports to the near continent.
